Arnoud Boot, professor of Corporate Finance and Financial Markets at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and director at the Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics (ACLE) will become a member of the Dutch Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) as of 1 January 2013. He will also remain a professor at the UvA and director at ACLE.

About Arnoud Boot

Prof. Arnoud Boot (1960) is Professor of Corporate Finance and Financial Markets at the UvA and director of the UvA’s Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics. He is also founder and director of the Amsterdam Center for Corporate Finance, Crown-appointed member of the Dutch Social Economic Council (SER), chairman of the Bank Council of the Dutch Central Bank (DNB), and a member of the Advisory Scientific Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). Boot began his academic career at Northwestern University (1989-1992). He then worked as a visiting professor at the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden (1993-1995) before becoming director of the Tinbergen Institute (1994-1998). He also worked for the Dutch bank ABN (1987-89) and McKinsey & Co. (2000-2001). Boot is a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

About the WRR

The WRR is an independent think tank for the Dutch government. The council gives the government solicited and unsolicited advice on topics from a long-term perspective. These topics are cross-sectoral and involve social issues that policymakers may face in the future.
