Comparative Research on Regulatory Law Enforcement in China and EU

The project compares regulatory enforcement practices in three fields: pollution, occupational health, and food safety. It seeks to understand why enforcement in these fields has been so difficult in China and how China may benefit from British and Dutch enforcement experience. The project also aims to use the case of China to broaden regulatory enforcement and compliance theory which has so far been largely developed based on Western case studies.

This is a joint project with the London School of Economics (LSE, Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS, School of Law). Funding for this project has been awarded by NWO/KNAW under the EU CO-REACH grant.
